After years of safekeeping, I decided to set these letters free, slipped on mailboxes off to somewhere I can’t exactly reckon. From then on, troubles seemed to have come in pauses, gradually fading as I approached that one night—special yet uncanny—with somebody, whose encounters we’ve had I can recall vividly. The slips and brushes of hands, these sly glances we exchanged to say a simple ‘hi’—“Petty”, said the many: well, I beg to agree most of the time. With the word ‘adventure’ waving wildly on his eyes, and with nothing promising but mere friendship that I could offer, I have to send another envelope on the loose. After I had met love for the first time, I made it sure not to fall over again with the same traps that sent me running. Yet I am still whole; not as much as drowning on whiskeys did it hurt, but I need to revive my soul once more.
